WatchVin is a private collection management platform that helps luxury watch owners track valuations, provenance, and market performance. This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your data.

2. Data we collect

When you create an account and use WatchVin, we collect the following information:

• Account data: email address, display name, and encrypted password hash.
• Collection data: watch details you enter — model, reference number, purchase price, condition, notes, and documents you upload.
• Usage data: pages visited, features used, and session duration for the purpose of improving the platform.
• Device data: browser type, operating system, and IP address used to detect suspicious access.

3. How we use your data

We use your data solely to provide and improve WatchVin:

• To authenticate your account and maintain session security.
• To store and retrieve your watch collection records.
• To generate valuations and portfolio analytics.
• To send transactional emails (password resets, alerts you configure).

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

4. Market and valuation data

Market analytics, index data, and valuation estimates displayed in WatchVin are sourced from publicly available auction records and market models. Some figures are estimated or model-based and should not be relied upon as financial advice. Always verify valuations with a qualified appraiser for insurance or sale purposes.

5. Data storage and security

Your data is stored on encrypted servers. Passwords are stored as hashed values and are never retrievable in plain text. Authentication tokens are stored in your browser using HTTPS-only cookies and local storage, and expire after 7 days of inactivity. We use SSL/TLS for all data transmission.

6. Your rights

You have the following rights regarding your data:

• Access: You can view all data stored in your account at any time within the app.
• Export: You can export your collection data as JSON from Settings → Data & Ownership.
• Deletion: You can permanently delete your account and all associated data from Settings → Delete Account. Deletion is irreversible and takes effect immediately.
• Correction: You can update your display name and account details from Settings at any time.

7. Cookies

WatchVin uses a single session cookie to keep you authenticated. This cookie is essential for the app to function and cannot be opted out of while logged in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or an in-app notice. Continued use of WatchVin after a policy change constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
